The Cascina Bordino Barbaresco Riserva Speciale 1979 is a classic Italian red wine crafted by the producer Le Colline. The grapes are sourced from a five-hectare vineyard situated in the locality of Cascina Bordino in Treiso d'Alba. This specific vineyard is positioned on the best-exposed section of the hill, allowing the vines to benefit from the optimal microclimate of the area.
Located in the prestigious Piedmont region in northwestern Italy, the Barbaresco appellation lies in the steep hills of the Langhe, just east of Alba. The landscape is characterized by dramatic hills that are often enveloped in thick morning fog during the autumn, which protects the grapes and ensures a long, perfect ripening period. The 1979 vintage from this area is described as soft and charming, earning a score of 88 points.
This Denominazione di Origine Controllata wine is made entirely from Nebbiolo, a premier Italian grape variety that is deeply rooted in the Piedmont region and forms the exclusive foundation for all Barbaresco wines. Following a careful selection of the grapes and a scrupulous vinification process, this Riserva Speciale was aged in oak barrels before undergoing further refinement in the bottle.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
