Bordeaux Supérieur Château Bellegrave 1992
Château Bellegrave is a 25-hectare family estate situated in the renowned Bordeaux region of France, producing approximately 60,000 bottles of red wine annually. This specific release is from the 1992 vintage, a year that is described as thin and developed.
Located by the Atlantic Ocean, Bordeaux is the world's most famous wine region and has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages. The legendary 1855 classification still ranks the area's leading châteaux. This wine holds the Appellation Bordeaux Supérieur Contrôlée classification, a regional AOC established in 1943 that covers the entire Bordeaux area. Positioned above the basic Bordeaux AOC, this designation requires stricter production rules, including lower yields, higher minimum alcohol levels, older vines, denser planting, and at least nine months of aging. The Bordeaux Supérieur area spans approximately 12,400 hectares.
The wine is crafted from an equal blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most recognized blue grapes for structured red wines, traditionally dominating the gravel soils of the Left Bank of the Gironde, though it is also widely planted in California, Washington, and Tuscany. Merlot, a classic blue grape, is the primary varietal of the Right Bank of Bordeaux and is similarly cultivated in regions such as California, Washington, and Northern Italy. Together, they form the foundation of the elegant blended wines for which the region is known.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
