Cailleret's Meursault Premier Cru 1999
The 1999 Caillerets Meursault Premier Cru is a white wine crafted by Domaine François Mikulski. The family-run winery has a unique heritage, as François Mikulski, of French-Polish descent, inherited his vineyards from his grandfather Claude Boillot. This connects him to one of the central families in Meursault's wine history. He produced his first vintage under his own name in 1991-1992 and now manages the estate alongside his wife, Marie-Pierre. The domaine spans eight to nine hectares across Meursault and Volnay, encompassing an impressive array of Premier Crus. In the vineyards, the family employs an organic approach and practices sustainable lutte raisonnée methods. As noted on the label, the wine is bottled directly at the domaine.
The wine originates from the Caillerets vineyard in Meursault, located within the Côte de Beaune. Meursault is a famous appellation that, while having no Grand Crus, is highly regarded for its exceptional Premier Cru sites. This area is part of the broader Bourgogne region in eastern France, where medieval monks historically mapped the intricate terroirs. The region's limestone soils provide the foundation for its viticulture, and the 1999 release comes from a top vintage characterized by great finesse and depth, earning a score of 95 points. Bottled at 13% alcohol by volume, the wine is made entirely from Chardonnay, one of the world's most recognized green grapes, which is frequently cultivated in renowned areas such as Bourgogne, Champagne, California, and Oregon.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
