Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in Beaune and has grown over more than a century and a half into one of Burgundy's largest and most renowned wine houses. With 240 hectares of land, Jadot is one of the largest private landowners in the region, managing a portfolio of 154 different cuvées that stretch from the Mâconnais in the south to Chablis in the north. Although it bears the founder's name, the estate has been under the American ownership of the Kobrand Corporation, led by the Rainer family, since 1985. The house maintains a classic Côte d'Or approach with a strong emphasis on sustainability and terroir fidelity. The winemaking was famously guided by Jacques Lardière from 1970 to 2012, before Frédéric Barnier took over the role. Today, it represents Burgundy in a modern, large-scale commercial form, while preserving its high ambitions for quality.
This 1997 red wine originates from the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation within the Burgundy region of eastern France. Burgundy's viticultural landscape was historically shaped by medieval monks who meticulously mapped the area's countless terroirs, establishing a fine-meshed system of climats on the region's limestone soils. The 1997 vintage in this area received a score of 86 points and is described as charming, but quickly developed. Côte de Nuits-Villages gained its AOC status in 1964 and serves as a regional appellation covering five communes at the northern and southern ends of the Côte de Nuits, specifically Fixin and Brochon in the north, alongside Comblanchien, Corgoloin, and Premeaux-Prissey in the south. The local continental climate brings warm summers and cold winters to the limestone and clay soils of the area.
Sourced specifically from the "Le Vaucrain" vineyard, this wine is made from Pinot Noir, an elegant blue grape that is deeply associated with Burgundy, though it is also widely cultivated in regions like Champagne, Germany, Oregon, and California. In the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation, Pinot Noir accounts for approximately 97 percent of the total production. The wine was harvested, vinified, aged, and bottled directly by Domaine Louis Jadot. It is bottled at 13 percent alcohol by volume and was imported by VINHUSET Millésime.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
