Château de Canesse is a red wine produced by M. Boyer in the renowned Bordeaux region of France. The estate is located in the municipality of Saint-Ciers-de-Canesse, just north of the town of Bourg, situated on the northern bank of the Gironde estuary. This area falls under the Côtes de Bourg appellation, which lies on the right bank of Bordeaux at the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, directly opposite Margaux. Recognized as one of the oldest wine-producing areas in Bordeaux, it gained its AOC status in 1936. The 1994 vintage from this region is described as tight and promising, earning a score of 82 points.
The vineyards of Château de Canesse cover an area of 10 hectares. The vines are cultivated on a terroir composed of clay and limestone, which is characteristic of the estate. The broader Côtes de Bourg appellation also features a mix of gravel and alluvium, providing excellent drainage for the vines. Bordeaux itself has a long-standing history of exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains globally recognized for its historic châteaux and traditional blending practices.
This wine is crafted from a classic blend of 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 percent Merlot, and 10 percent Malbec. While Cabernet Sauvignon often dominates the gravelly soils of Bordeaux's left bank, the right bank is traditionally the domain of Merlot. Merlot is a classic blue grape widely grown in regions such as Bordeaux, California, Washington, and Northern Italy. The inclusion of Malbec, another blue grape frequently found in Bordeaux as well as Argentina, Cahors, and California, is notably higher in the Côtes de Bourg than in many other parts of the broader Bordeaux region.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
