Maipo Valley Viña Tarapacá 2001
The Zavala Viña Tarapacá 2001 is an estate-bottled red wine produced by Viña Tarapacá in Chile. The wine originates from the Maipo Valley, situated near Santiago. Established in the mid-1800s with the introduction of French grape varieties, the Maipo Valley stands as Chile's oldest and most classic wine region. The area is particularly renowned for its viticulture on the warm valley floor and along the slopes of the Andes Mountains.
This 2001 vintage is crafted from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most recognized dark-skinned grapes for producing structured red wines, frequently grown in prominent areas such as Bordeaux, California, Washington, and Tuscany. The blend is supported by Syrah, also known as Shiraz, which is widely planted in regions like the Rhône Valley and Australia, alongside Merlot, a classic variety traditionally cultivated in Bordeaux and Northern Italy. During its production, the wine was aged for 13 months in French oak barrels before being bottled in September 2002.
