Les Longeroies Marsannay Domaine Denis Mortet 2007
This 2007 red wine comes from the Les Longeroies vineyard in Marsannay, an Appellation Contrôlée in the Burgundy region of eastern France. Burgundy was shaped by medieval monks who meticulously mapped the area's countless terroirs, creating a fine-meshed system of climats. Marsannay is located at the northernmost point of the Côte de Nuits, just south of Dijon, covering the villages of Marsannay-la-Côte, Couchey, and Chenôve. The vines here are cultivated at altitudes between 255 and 390 meters on a mosaic of Middle Jurassic soils consisting of limestone, marl, and gravel. Known as the "Porte d'Or" of the Côte de Nuits, Marsannay holds the unique distinction of being the only village appellation in Burgundy that produces red, white, and rosé wines. The 2007 vintage achieved a score of 86 points and is characterized by an elegant style.
The wine is made from Pinot Noir, an elegant blue grape that is deeply rooted in the limestone soils of Burgundy. While it is the primary red variety of the region, Pinot Noir is also widely cultivated in other prominent wine areas such as Champagne, Germany, Oregon, and California.
Domaine Denis Mortet is a renowned estate originally founded in 1956 by Charles Mortet. In 1991, his son Denis Mortet established his own domain with half of his father's vineyards, growing it throughout the 1990s into one of Burgundy's most celebrated estates. Denis introduced an approach focused on deep extraction and precise vinification, setting a new standard for the Côte de Nuits. Following his sudden passing in 2006, his son Arnaud Mortet took over the winemaking responsibilities, and this specific vintage was vinified under his direction. Today, the estate spans 16 hectares, including prestigious Grand Cru parcels like Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares, Mazis-Chambertin, and Échézeaux, continuing a modern and precise interpretation of the region's terroir.

Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
