Médoc Château Potensac 1991

The 1991 Château Potensac is an estate-bottled red wine from the Appellation Médoc Contrôlée in Bordeaux, France. Situated on the Atlantic coast, Bordeaux is globally renowned for its historic wine production, which has been exported since the Middle Ages. The Médoc area, located on the left bank of the Gironde estuary north of Bordeaux, is characterized by soils of gravel, sand, and clay that provide excellent drainage and heat retention. The 1991 vintage in this region was notably challenged by frost and low quality.Château Potensac is located near Ordonnac in the northern part of the Médoc peninsula. The estate is part of Domaines Delon, owned by the same family behind Château Léoville-Las-Cases, one of the premier 2e Cru Classés of Saint-Julien. This connection ensures that the property is managed with a level of ambition and expertise rarely seen in an unclassified generic Médoc estate. The direct involvement of the Delon family elevates the production, allowing the château to deliver a standard that significantly exceeds the typical expectations of the appellation. The wine is crafted as a classic Médoc blend, traditionally consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. In the Bordeaux region, Cabernet Sauvignon typically dominates the gravel soils of the left bank, while Merlot and Cabernet Franc are more prominent on the right bank. Produced by Delon Liquard, this wine is bottled directly at the château and features an alcohol content of 12.5%.

Super service and very helpful. Lost one of the bottles during transport and reported it to Bottles With History. It was fixed immediately and a new bottle was sent immediately. (Actually a better wine in my opinion) It is very difficult to guarantee that older bottles are drinkable, like the Barolo from 69 I tried. Anders came to the rescue again and of course sent a new bottle of the same caliber. Thank you very much for the good service, can definitely recommend shopping here in safe hands.
