Moulis en Médoc Château Cantelaude 1995
Château Cantelaude 1995 is a red wine from the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation in France. Designated as a Grand Vin de Bordeaux, this wine was bottled directly at the estate and carries the Appellation Moulis Contrôlée classification.
The wine originates from Bordeaux, a historic region on the Atlantic coast that has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages. Within Bordeaux's left bank lies Moulis-en-Médoc, the smallest communal appellation in the Médoc area. Situated inland, west of Margaux, the area features an oceanic climate moderated by the Atlantic and the Gironde estuary. The terroir is defined by fine gravel banks, where deep layers of quartz gravel over clay and limestone provide excellent drainage and heat retention.
Red wines from this appellation are predominantly made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, supplemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The 1995 vintage achieved a score of 91 points and is described as ripe and balanced, reflecting the structured and concentrated style typical of the area. While Moulis-en-Médoc does not include any estates from the famous 1855 classification, it is highly regarded for delivering classic, high-quality Bordeaux wines.
