Château La Croix d'Armens is a red wine produced by S.C.E.A. Chateau Armens, an estate also known as Bonnet, under the ownership of Alexandre de Malet Roquefort. This specific release serves as the second wine of the estate, which is situated in the southeastern corner of the Saint-Émilion area. The 1998 vintage holds the Appellation Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Contrôlée classification and was bottled directly at the château.
Saint-Émilion is located on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, east of the city of Bordeaux. It is one of the most famous wine areas in the broader Bordeaux region, renowned for its medieval town and its own distinct classification system. The vineyards here feature a varied terroir consisting of a limestone plateau, clay, sand, and gravel. The Bordeaux region itself, situated by the Atlantic Ocean, has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and is globally recognized for its historic estates. The 1998 vintage from this area achieved a score of 90 points and is described as rich and ripe.
The estate encompasses 25 hectares of vineyards planted with a blend of classic blue grapes. The composition is led by 50% Merlot, a variety frequently cultivated in Bordeaux, California, Washington, and Northern Italy. This is complemented by 33% Cabernet Franc, typically found in the Loire Valley, Bordeaux, and California, along with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, which is widely grown in Bordeaux, California, Washington, and Tuscany. Finally, a small addition of 2% Malbec completes the vineyard plantings, a grape often associated with Argentina, Cahors, Bordeaux, and California.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.

Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
