Falerno Riserva Particolare Cantine Cenatiempo
This is the Falerno Riserva Particolare, a dry red wine produced and bottled by Cantine Cenatiempo. Designated as a "Riserva Particolare," this release is also part of the "Enoselezione Vini D'Italia" selection. It is presented in a 720 ml bottle with an alcohol content of 12.5%.
The wine originates from Falerno, a historic wine-growing area located primarily in the Caserta province around Monte Massico, in the northern part of the Campania region. The viticultural roots of this area date back to antiquity, where wine produced under the name Falernum was among the most famous and sought-after in the Roman Empire. Before the establishment of the modern Falerno del Massico DOC classification in 1989, wines from this area were traditionally bottled and sold simply under the historic Falerno name.
Campania is an archaeological and geological treasure trove for viticulture. With the active volcano Vesuvius as a neighbor, the soil is highly volcanic and rich in ash and minerals. This volcanic origin deeply characterizes the vineyards on the slopes around Monte Massico and the extinct volcano Roccamonfina. The climate in the Falerno area is maritime and Mediterranean, featuring warm, sunny summers and mild winters, while cooling sea breezes from the nearby coast create excellent conditions for vine cultivation.
Traditionally, the red wines of this area are crafted with a predominance of the local Aglianico grape, often blended with Piedirosso and occasionally Primitivo. Campania is renowned for its powerful red wines based on Aglianico, a grape variety so significant to the region that it is often referred to as the "Barolo of the South."
