The history of the wine
Below, you can delve into the history of this wine — its producer, grape, area, and region.
Minho
Minho lies in north-western Portugal along the Atlantic coast and borders the Spanish region of Galicia to the north. The area is a regional Vinho Regional wine region that geographically covers largely the same area as the better-known DOC Vinho Verde and serves as an umbrella that allows international grapes not approved under the DOC rules.
The vineyards cover over 35,000 hectares spread across nine subregions, with Monção e Melgaço in the north producing some of the best quality wines. The climate is humid and Atlantic-influenced with high rainfall, and the soils consist mainly of granite. The wines are made predominantly as white wines from Alvarinho, Loureiro, Trajadura, Arinto, Avesso and Azal, plus a smaller share of red wines from Vinhão and Espadeiro. The style is typically very fresh and light with low alcohol (10-12 percent), high acidity and a lightly effervescent character. The aromas include green apple, lemon, peach, white flowers, herbs and a saline minerality. The area is known as the home of Vinho Verde and one of the world's most distinctive sources of fresh, acid-driven white wines.
Da denne vin blev lavet, så verden meget anderledes ud. Her er nogle af de historier, der udspillede sig, mens denne flaske stille ældes i sin kælder.
